We're excited to announce a new, inaugural event in Buffalo – The Everything Buffalo Mentor Race, presented by Say Yes Buffalo and the MolinaCares Accord.
The Everything Buffalo Mentor Race will be held, in-person, on Saturday, August 14 with the goal of promoting the importance and life-long impact of mentoring.
Here are some details:
- Teams – consisting of one mentor and one youth mentee (who is between the ages of 12 and 21) – will compete and work together to solve challenges along a course in the downtown Buffalo corridor.
- Teams will be competing against up to 50 other mentor teams from across Western New York.
- And, yes, there are prizes!
Not only is the race about bringing together teams of youths and their mentors for a fun, memorable activity, but all proceeds raised will go to the Say Yes Buffalo Scholarships, supporting Buffalo public and charter school students.
Join us in raising awareness and supporting the mentoring programs across WNY!
START/FINISH
The race will start and finish at Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo and take Teams to different check points along Main Street.
Participants will use a Metro Pass -provided by event organizers – to utilize the rail system as their mode of transportation.
The Race starts at 10:00am sharp!
REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open until July 11, 2021. There will be no on-site registration.
Packet pickup will take place on Saturday, August 7th at Bennett High School between 11a - 1p.
All registrants will receive an official race t-shirt, bag and other swag at packet pick-up.
POST-RACE CELEBRATION
There will be an awards ceremony and post-race party after the Race. Due to COVID, only Race participants can attend the post-race activities.
Race organizers will be providing all participants with food and beverages.
Bottled water will also be available before and after the Race.
Remember that everyone MUST wear a mask before, during and after the race.

AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
There are 3 age categories which were determined by the age of the Mentee:
- 12 – 14 yrs old
- 15 – 17 yrs old
- 18 – 21 yrs old
Prizes will be given for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age category. Top finishers are determined by how long it takes to complete the Race.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Event will take place, rain or shine. There will be no refunds.
TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
The Race will have staggered start times and chip finish.
In other words, Teams will leave the Starting Line at different times. The chip in race bibs will record how long it took each Team to finish the Race.
Timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions.
